Here comes trouble...

It seems like Zoa has been developing in fast-forward lately. She is extremely active crawling, pulling herself up on furniture, and taking first steps behind her car. This past weekend we embarked on an emergency baby-proofing endeavor that included installing baby gates and cabinet locks.

This new activity has also meant even fewer naps. You would expect with all the energy she expends during the day that she would nap more, but our girl has gone the other direction. She has recently started taking one 30-45 minute nap a day. This means that poor Brian is going non-stop too, and he is pretty exhausted by the end of a day full of Zoa rangling. Zoa will occasionally completely shut-down due to her new high-powered antics. For example, on Friday she went to bed at 6:30pm only waking up once to eat and then sleeping again until 7:30am.

She also now refuses to be fed. Zoa refuses all pureed food and swats away any spoon headed towards her mouth. Thus, we have changed to an entirely new menu for Lady Zoa. Her new favorites include whole peas and small pieces of tofu. Other recent foods include teething biscuits, cheerios (or their generic equivalent) egg yolks, and cottage cheese. This new self-feeding means that her meals take a lot longer, but she really seems to enjoy feeding herself.

I am just posting a quick update here as a death in our family today will surely keep me away from the blog for a while. For those of you in the Minneapolis area, we will be seeing you again shortly. Zoa sends her best to all.
